Dr Helena Dean

Practice owner

Dr Helena Dean is the owner of Dean Veterinary Hospital Professional Corporation in Kleinburg. She received her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1989 after completing a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Guelph in 1985. Dr. Dean graduated from Leaside High School in Toronto. Her passion for horses began while she was attending elementary school in Leaside: riding lessons began at a small stable outside of Toronto. Dr. Dean practiced equine medicine primarily for portion of her career whilst doing small animal locums in the York region.
In 2004 Dr Dean opened Dean Veterinary Hospital in Kleinburg. We don’t only see dogs and cats in the hospital but on any given day Dr. Dean can be looking at mini pigs, pot-bellied pigs, pocket pets, pet fish or horses! Every pet is a valued pet and patient at Dean Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Dean also believes in providing veterinary care to animals and pets in remote areas not easily accessible to regular veterinary care. Dr. Dean has been an integral part of the Grey Bruce Aboriginal Qimmiq Team to perform spay/neuter clinics in Northern Ontario to the remote First Nations communities. In 2018 Dr. Dean travelled to Papua New Guinea to perform spay/neuter clinics in remote communities and serve as serve as a mentor to the team working at the Humane Society in the capital of Papua New Guinea. Locally Dr. Dean and her team members participate in a Veterinary Community Outreach program at a New Market location to help the homeless and their pets.
Outside of the hospital Dr. Dean can be found in the barn playing with her horses and donkeys and dogs or at a horseshow. Dr. Dean is compassionate about her horses and her work: just look at the deanveterinary_kleinburg instagram account.

Melissa Fenton

Client Service Team Manager/Veterinary Technician

Melissa joined our team in January 2015 with over 10 years of experience in the veterinary world. She has extensive experience with exotics, birds and pocket pets and is our ‘go-to’ for just about anything at the clinic from animal care to client services and beyond.
Melissa has 3 pets of her own: Belly (which she adopted from the clinic), Petrie her energetic whippet (whom she also adopted from the clinic) and her macaw “Oscar”. And when Melissa is not at the clinic or at home she is often found at the dog park with Petrie and her dog-park friends (most of which are our clients of course!).

Jessica Baker

Registered Veterinary Technician

Jessica Baker joined our team in April 2020 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Jessica went to high school in Toronto and graduated from St. Joseph’s Morrow Park in 2012. Jessica completed the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College in April 2020 and soon after passed her Registration exam this summer. Jessica had not always planned on being a Veterinary Technician. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in English and Sociology. Jessica’s passion for animals began early in life as she began horseback riding when she was six years old. Jessica’s involvement in the show horse circuit encouraged her to finally pursue a career in the veterinary field. Outside of work Jessica enjoys riding and competing with her Dutch Warmblood Mare, Flora, and taking lots of walks with Hunter, her German Shepherd, and Charlotte, her Chihuahua.
